Catha Jacobs

2nd Jun 1998 1.81m/80kg No 4 Lock

A poster girl for outdoor sports and healthy living, Catha Jacobs originally
hoped to row the Atlantic Ocean on a canoe, but her natural aptitude for
rugby instead saw her crisscrossing the five oceans of the world with a
Springbok on her chest. Jacobs has since amassed 22 test caps and is
set for her second Rugby World Cup, won the English Women’s Allianz
Premier League with Saracens and earned a second professional playing
contract with Leicester Tigers Women before deciding to come home
where the heart is.. Jacobs originally entered a national competition to
cross the Atlantic with adventurer Riaan Manser in a canoe, but a chance
sevens rugby tournament changed that direction and instead, rugby
came across her bow, first in sevens, where she was soon called up into
the Springbok Women’s Sevens team and when Covid-19 interrupted
that programme in 2021, she was called into the Springbok Women with
immediate success and recognition.
