The abrasive midfield running by Qawe made her a regular starter for the
Springbok Women since her debut in 2019. Chumisa played test rugby
with twin, Chuma, in 2019 when the Eastern Cape-raised sisters debuted
for their country against Scotland, making them the first pair of twins
ever to play for the national team. They also represented their country at
the 2022 Rugby World Cup in New Zealand. Chumisa became the 10th
Springbok Women’s captain when she led the team at the Rugby Africa
Women’s Cup in 2023 and continues in a leadership role in the current
squad. Off the field, she also recently completed a Diploma in Public
Administration at Cape Peninsula University of Technology.
