A South Schools player in 2002, the Western Province U18 star then moved to the Bulls in 2003. Playing SAU20s in 2004 and 2005, the fullback also went on to represent the Bulls in Super Rugby, the Currie Cup and the Vodacom Cup. 2007 saw a year stint with Boland before Hennie moved to the Cheetahs in 2008 where he continues to turn out for the franchise in Super Rugby and the Currie Cup.
