Laura Keates

Born in Awali, Bahrein and educated at Colston’s and the University of Birmingham, Laura works as a lifeguard and also has a BSc in Zoology. Her youth rugby clubs were Greyhound and Hereford.

Laura first got involved in rugby with the Bishop of Hereford Bluecoat U15 team, a relatively late start but since then she’s accelerated through the rankings. She missed the 2010 World Cup before collecting her first cap against USA the following year in the Nations Cup. Next up was becoming a 2014 World Cup winner.

She started against Samoa, came off from the bench against Spain and Canada in the pool stages then Ireland and Canada once again in the final. Laura was in the run-on side for the Red Roses in all four Tests this autumn, including three in the Old Mutual Wealth Series.

She plays her club rugby with Worcester Valkyries and has won 56 caps for England, having been named in the 2017 6 Nations squad,
