A chance meeting with a rugby playing friend and an invite to join a
training session turned out to be very rewarding for Gwala, now the most
capped hooker in the history of the Springbok Women’s game. The KZN
born and raised Gwala managed to co-opt studying for her Biokinetics and
Strength & Conditioning qualifications and a professional rugby career,
a journey that took her to a just completed two-year stint with Ealing
Trailfinders Women in the Professional Women’s League in England. Gwala
brings genuine game sense and pin-point accuracy at lineout time to the
game, while away from the game - as a creative spirit love writing poems
when the mood calls - something that is often used by team management
to inspire the squad.
