A late try saw the Highlanders beat the Bulls 17-10 in a tight encounter played in extremely wet conditions. The Highlanders took a 10-3 lead into the break, but the Bulls scored early in the second half to level things up. The visitors picked up a red card with a little over 15 minutes to play, but the Bulls could not capitalize on their numerical advantage and were reduced to 14 men themselves with a red card inside the final ten minutes. With 5 minutes remaining a brilliant run from Fekitoa saw the Highlanders score the match winning try.
