Paraka was introduced to Rugby when he moved to the Gold Coast in Australia for his secondary education at The Southport School, where he was a boarding student.

He entered the Reds senior squad for the first time in 2016, following two seasons as a key pillar for the McInnes Wilson Lawyers Brisbane City scrum.

He portrayed a memorable powerhouse performance in the 2014 Buildcorp National Rugby Championship grand final, where he scored two tries to help City to a win over Perth Spirit.

He made his Super Rugby debut for the Reds against the Brumbies at Suncorp Stadium and earned six caps for the Reds in total.
