The tighthead prop's career started with Boland in 2003, where he quickly progressed to the senior team in 2005. Three seasons at Boland saw a brief stint with Western Province before moving to Griquas in 2008 for two Currie Cup campaigns. Signing in 2010 with Bourgoin, 2011 saw Du Preez transferring to Oyonnax.
Du Preez signed a deal with Pro D2 side Agen ahead of the 2015/16 campaign.
