Born in Tokorua, New Zealand in September of 1986, Christie is a highly skilled flyhalf who is a graduate from Hamilton Boys' High School. Despite having represented New Zealand at various underage levels and having appeared for several Waikato developmental sides, he was overlooked by the five New Zealand franchises and so in 2013 moved to Australia where he earned a contract with the Western Force.
