Powerhouse Ngwevu has been pretty much a first-choice selection for every
team she has played in since taking up rugby aged 16. She was named into
the Springbok Women’s touring to the UK in 2018 aged 20, but an arm
injury prevented her from making a test debut but did so in 2019 against
Uganda and looked set to take on the world. Then Covid struck and during
this time, Ngwevu became a mother which delayed her return to the game
post the pandemic resumption. Battling with conditioning, Ngwevu was
omitted from the 2021 tour to Europe, but bounced back in 2022 and made
the RWC squad to New Zealand. She has been a regular ever since and
remains one of the most reliable go forward runners in the domestic game.
Ngwevu’s powerful running saw her earn the Player of the Match gong
against Spain earlier this season and she showed against the Black Ferns XV
that she remains one of the most destructive attackers around.
