Hele’s ball-carrying ability is second to none in the women’s game and
makes her a vital cog in the Bok Women’s plan to get go forward ball. In
fact, she had beaten more defenders than any other ball-carrier at the
2022 Rugby World Cup in New Zealand and has since continued to be a
menace to defences since. She started playing rugby by chance, as her
netball practice times did not fit into her work schedule and the rugby
one did. The rest as they say, is history. She made her international debut
in 2018 and was named Women’s Achiever at the SA Rugby Awards the
following year and since then, remained one of the top players in the
country. Now firmly established as the country’s finest No 8, Hele had
massive impact in the Canada series and is one of the players to watch
in England where crowds will be familiar with her barnstorming runs, as
she played for two seasons at Harlequins Women’s Rugby at The Stoop.
She also played for the Springbok Women’s Sevens on the HSBC SVNS
circuit in 2022
