Gunter’s first test match might have been short-lived - she had to leave
the field on a stretcher only minutes in - but such is the determination
of the former Bulls Daisies player that she added twelve more caps to
her bow, including one against England at the 2022 Rugby World Cup
in New Zealand. The gifted Gunter first achieved provincial colours in
touch rugby and soccer before being bitten by the rugby bug while
at university, where she completed her Sports Science degree at the
University of KwaZulu-Natal. She might have started her first game at
scrumhalf many years ago, but in recent times Gunter, who also obtained
a post graduate certificate in education at Stellenbosch University,
became a star hooker who often moves to open side due to her ballstealing abilities. Gunter enjoys CrossFit and the beach life in her
spare time, although the latter will be more difficult as she signed with
Leicester Tigers Women for the 2026 season.
