A career of 15 seasons with numerous setbacks and injuries, but also
one of inspiration, hope, perseverance and determination resulted in
Nolusindiso Booi becoming the most decorated women’s player in the
South African game. The national captain was the first ever to reach 50
test caps and looks set to extend her record as test captain too, during
her fourth Rugby World Cup, having played in the 2010, 2014 and 2022
editions. Booi is a true leader in all aspects. On the field, despite being
the oldest player on the field, often tops the stats for most tackles and
ruck arrivals, while off the field, are the perfect soundboard for players
and management alike, reflecting issues on both sides with clarity
and composure.
