Logo-I-Pulotu Lemapu-Atai’i Sylvia Brunt
has seen a quick rise to the top. At just 18
she made her Black Ferns debut off the
bench against Canada in the 2022 Pacific
Four Series in Waitakere.
She captained Mt Albert Grammar 1st XV
team who won the College Sport Auckland
Championship, was a member of the
Ponsonby Senior Women’s team that won
the 2020 Coleman Shielda and in the same
year she debuted for the Auckland Storm.
An impressive midfielder, Brunt plays for
the Auckland Storm and the Blues in Sky
Super Rugby Aupiki. In 2025, Brunt was also
awarded Pasifika Women’s Breakthrough
Player of the Year at the Pasifika Hall of
Fame awards.
Since the Black Ferns Rugby World
Cup success in 2022, which Brunt was
a part of, fellow Black Ferns midfielder
Amy du Plessis and Brunt have formed an
entertaining midfield combination. The
duo were standouts across the Black Ferns
2023 Test season, and a combination set
to flourish as the team prepare for the
2025 Rugby World Cup.
