Ngxingolo was earmarked for a long career in rugby from her schooling
days in East London, where she excelled playing for Border in the U16 and
U18 Girls Weeks and the region’s Youth Training Centre. It was no surprise
when at age 20 she was called into the Springbok Women squad that
toured Europe. She then became a regular starter for the national team
at loose head, but her ability to also pack down on the right, along with
excellent running skills, soon made her the ideal super sub. Subsequently,
Ngxingolo played most of her recent tests off the bench, often making
telling contributions in ball carries and scrum pressure. She also came back
from injury fitter and stronger than before and will be a big contender to
play in all the pool stage matches.
