Cheetahs face anxious Faf de Klerk wait

Cheetahs scrumhalf Faf de Klerk is set to undergo scans after suffering an ankle injury against Bayonne on Sunday.
The 35-year-old, who celebrated his birthday on Monday, was forced off in the 43rd minute of the EPCR Challenge Cup clash in France, which the visitors lost 29 - 27.
The Cheetahs returned to South Africa on Tuesday, with coach Frans Steyn hopeful that De Klerk’s injury is not serious.
“We’ll assess it when we get home. He looks alright, though, and we now have three weeks off before our pre-season preparations begin,” Steyn told Network24 before the team’s departure from Paris.
“There’s enough time for everything to hopefully be right, but we’ll do scans and things as soon as we get back to South Africa.”
Steyn was frustrated that his side could not turn their dominance at the Stade Jean-Dauger into a victory.
“We did everything to win the match, the statistics and everything. The only place we didn’t win was where it matters – on the scoreboard,” he said.
“We are obviously very disappointed. We got a few things wrong here and there that came back to bite us in the end.
“We still have three matches left and hopefully we can be better against the Dragons.”
The Cheetahs face the Welsh club on 13 December at St Helen’s in Swansea, their new European home venue.
