England struck first through hooker Luke Cowan‑Dickie, scoring in the 5th minute after sustained pressure. However, Fiji responded emphatically: a try by hooker Tevita Ikanivere put them ahead in the 9th minute. Then fly-half Caleb Muntz scored for Fiji around the 21st minute, adding a penalty soon after and putting Fiji ahead.
England regained a slim lead before half-time when winger Immanuel Feyi‑Waboso exploited a yellow card to a Fiji player to score late in the half.
At the break the score was England 14 – Fiji 13.
The second half began with Fiji still competitive, and around the hour mark the score was tantalisingly close at 21-18 in favour of England.
But this is where England’s depth began to show. A try by prop Ellis Genge extended the lead for England.
Shortly after, England rolled forward via a line-out and maul to score through hooker Jamie George.
Winger Henry Arundell, on his return to the side, added a scorching try to put the game beyond doubt.
Finally, powerhouse forward Maro Itoje touched down late on, sealing the result. England eventually won 38-18.
