Fresh COVID concerns in the French camp after a round of Top 14 action - report

The French national team have been dealt yet another blow COVID scare according to a report by RMC Sport.

Anthony Bouthier and Paul Willemse are reportedly under strict surveillance in the camp following the news that a Clermont player has tested positive to COVID-19. Montpellier beat Clermont 22-16 on Friday in the TOP14 with both Bouthier and Willemse starting for the club. Meanwhile, tighthead prop Mohamed Haouas was rested for Montpellier.

According to RMC Sport, all precautions are being taken to avoid another covid outbreak in the French squad with both Willemse and Boutheir being closely monitored. The French Federation and Montpellier are also in regular contact to find out the results of the tests taken at the club on Wednesday morning.

Willemse was not spotted at training on Tuesday while Bernard Le Roux has also been replaced in the squad due to an injury which could mean that France may face England without their two first-choice second rowers.
