TheHighlanders proudly announce the group of five talented individuals who, in2024, will embark on their journey through the John Jones Steel (JJS) Highlanders’High Performance Pathway, which also includes the opportunity to train with the full Highlanders squad for a short period. They join a special group that includes current Highlanders’ Squad Members, Fabian Holland, Sean Withy, andCameron Millar, all of whom are graduates of the JJS High PerformanceProgramme.

In the upcoming year, these promising players will trial for the Highlanders U20 team, which will represent the region at the annual national tournament in Taupo.

"There is fierce competition for young rugby talent in our country. The fact that these individuals have chosen the Highlanders for their development into full-time professional rugby players, while also pursuing alternative career prospects through study and work opportunities, is a resounding endorsement of our systems."

In the previous season, JJS High Performance Programme graduates Reuben Palmer, Max Ratcliffe, Kyan Rangitutia, and Stan McClure made their mark, all representing the Otago U19 team. Additionally, talented midfielder Josh Whaanga debuted for the Otago team during the 2023 Bunnings NPC.
