Luke Jones to return to Melbourne in 2019

Former Wallabies forward Luke Jones is set to return to Melbourne in 2019 after being granted an early release from his French club Bordeaux.

According to reports, the 27-year-old could leave the club as early as December.

“I was put under some serious pressure to stay (in Bordeaux) because they’re happy with my playing and I’m enjoying my time there," said Jones, who has been playing with Bordeaux since the end of 2016.

"They were pretty keen to wrap it up pretty quickly.

“If Australia came knocking, I think Bordeaux would understand if I wanted to go back.”

Jones most recently played in Australia in an unofficial Test against the Wallabies last October & will immediately be eligible to represent the Wallabies should hesign with the Rebels.

He played three Tests for the Wallabies in 2014 and has featured twice under Michael Cheika.
