Round 2 ends with a cracker as Wellington tackle rivals Auckland at the famous Eden Park.
The home side’s tails will be up after an impressive 38-6 victory over Otago last weekend. Conversely, Wellington were given a bit of a shock by a rampant Waikato outfit who fed hungrily off mistakes and converted opportunities into points.
The clash of the forwards will be an intriguing one as both packs performed admirably while there was no shortage of skill amongst the backs either.
Almost a year ago to the day was the last time these two old foes locked horns, with Wellington dominating proceedings with a 34-15 victory.
Things could get interesting around the fringes as All Black scrumhalf TJ Perenara is sure to make life rather difficult for the Blues’ Jonathan Ruru.
Amongst the big men, focus should be kept on the skills of and ability of Auckland number 8 Hoskins Sotutu, who has made a strong case for higher honours this year, as well as the ever-impressive Ardie Savea in the Wellington colours.
