Nick Williams is reduced to tears as the Cardiff Blues gift him a special Christmas surprise

Cardiff Blues back-rower Nick Williams was reduced to tears by a touching Christmas present from his club.

The Cardiff Blues surprised the No.8 by flying mother Aolele from New Zealand to watch him in action in Europe, for the first time, over the Christmas holidays. Williams left New Zealand in 2008 to continue his rugby career in Europe and hasn't seen much of his close family since.

Cardiff posted a moving video on social media, showing the moment Williams laid eyes on his mother while also paying tribute to the hardman loose forward.

Cardiff coach John Mulvihill started by paying tribute to Williams, playing a video message from his mum for the festive season. Williams began to shed tears as the message played and was called up by Mulvihill to receive a gift.

"Mate, this isn’t your gift," said Mulvihill. "Here’s your gift, here’s mum behind you."

Williams broke down, as he hugged his mum, while teammates forced back the tears during the emotional reunion.
