Northampton Saints have provided an update on England forward Courtney Lawes.
Lawes was ruled out of the remainder of the Six Nations last week after suffering damage to his pectoral muscle in training. He subsequently missed the clash against Wales and has since been replaced in the England squad by fellow Saint David Ribbans who is yet to make his England debut.
Northampton have since confirmed that Lawes is set to be sidelined for around 12 weeks.
The club confirmed the news via a short statement on Wednesday:
"Northampton Saints can confirm that, following consultation between the Club’s medical staff and a specialist, Courtney Lawes will undergo surgery on the pectoral injury he sustained in England training last week.
The 32-year-old lock will require a rehabilitation period of approximately 12 weeks."
