Sale v La Rochelle: Winners and Losers

Sale v La Rochelle: Winners and Losers

La Rochelle make it back to back wins in the Champions Cup pushing them through to the Round of 16 after a bonus point win against Sale Sharks. Both sides had the benefit of a strong wind, La Rochelle in the first half and Sale Sharks in the second.

Here are the winners and losers from the game.

Winners:

Yoan Tanga - La Rochelle

Tanga was pushed to 12 as cover for Jonatahn Danty. Tanga, usually a loose forward started the game for the defending champions and put on a good show despite missing a few tackles. He helped Dillyn Leyds to a try after a thunderous hit on Rob du Preez gifted the ball to the Springbok who did well to score.

Gregory Alldritt - La Rochelle

Man of the Match on the day and it is clear why he captains La Rochelle and recently named as French captain. A couple of turnovers for the 8th man and top tackler on the day with 15.

Sam James - Sale Sharks

A midfielder sent to 15 to start and he did not dissapoint. He was a constant threat on attack setting up what looked like two tries which were both chalked off due to a foot in touch. He beat six defenders on the day, top with Teddy Thomas on five

Losers:

Jonny Hill - Sale Sharks

Hill was stretchered off after just 18 minutes to a suspected dislocated knee. Hill has been in great form for Sale Sharks this season.

The Fans - Sale Sharks

The home side were 0-30 down at the start of the second half and things looked like they would get worse for the home side. The fans were treated to a better second half as the home side secured their try bonus point in injury time but are still relegated to the Challenge Cup for the rest of the season
