Sexton leads McCaw and Carter in vote for World Player of the Decade

World Rugby has provided updates on the current leaders for the World Rugby Awards with the virtual award ceremony set to take place on 7 December.
The special edition virtual show on 7 December, the World Rugby Awards’ will celebrate the players and teams who have starred over the last decade (2010-19). Six categories have been opened for the fans to decide the winner of the Awards selected from previous World Rugby Award winners.
Votes can be cast on World Rugby’s website from this Thursday, 15 October until Sunday, 25 October
As it stands, Jonathan Sexton leads double World Cup winners Richie McCaw and Dan Carter for the World Rugby Player of the Decade Award. World Rugby updated the results on Twitter saying Ireland’s Jonathan Sexton currently leads voting.

The current Ireland captain won the World Player of the Year Award in 2018 and currently has 22 percent of the votes with Carter and McCaw holding 19% and 20% of the votes respectively.
All Blacks Beauden Barrett, Kieran Read and Brodie Retallick are also up for the award along with former French captain Thierry Dusautoir and last year’s winner Pieter-Steph du Toit.
Fans have until Sunday, 25 October to vote for the award.
