Some of the top performers from the weekends European Rugby

Thomas Waldrom

The number 8 produced another man of the match performance for the Chiefs in what was a crucial win against Saracens. In what is his first season for the Chiefs, Waldrom scored two tries at Allianz Park yesterday to make it 16 tries for the season. He will look to continue his fine try scoring record this season when the Chiefs take on Sale Sharks next weekend with a win sealing a play-off for them.

Josh Matavesi

Ospreys climbed to the top of the Pro12 over the weekend thanks to an impressive win over Glasgow with Matavesi playing his part. The Fijian centre was part of everything good that came from the Ospreys side and his fine line break in the second half produced the first try of the game with his centre partner finishing in the end. The win for Ospreys now leaves them needing a win away to Connacht in the final round of games to secure a home semi-final.

Morne Steyn

After a difficult few years at Stade Francais, Morne Steyn looked to be back to his best in Stade Francais’s win over Racing Metro. With Jules Plisson out injured, Steyn was given a starting place for the Paris derby and he didn’t leave his kicking boots at home scoring 23 of Stade Francais’s 28 points. The win now moves Stade up to fourth and Steyn will be hoping to keep up his good form as Stade push for their first French title since 2007, while also looking to secure a place in South Africa’s World Cup squad.

CJ Stander

Another outstanding performance from CJ Stander as he picked up his 6th man of the match award of the season after his impressive performance against Ulster. The South African born number 8 will be disappointed his side did not secure the win but they are still in the running for a home semi-final as they finish their league campaign at home to the Dragons.
