New Zealand flyhalf Richie Mo'unga was named Japan Rugby League One's most valuable player on Monday, a day after leading Brave Lupus Tokyo to a long-awaited championship.

Coached by former All Black captain Todd Blackadder, Brave Lupus captured their first title since winning the 2009-10 championship in the Top League era, before the competition's relaunch as League One.

Mo'unga was joined by New Zealand flanker Shannon Frizell, another new arrival in Japan this season, among five Brave Lupus players in the League One Best XV.
