Round 2 of Super Rugby AU saw an 18-all draw between the Rebels and Reds in a match that went into extra time while the Waratahs despatched the Western Force 23-14 in Sydney. We take a look at the top stats performers of the round.

Western Force flanker Tevin Ferris put in a thorough defensive shift, emerging as the top tackler of the round with 21 against the Waratahs. Richard Hardwick and Matt Philip of the Rebels made 18 and 16 respectively against the Reds.

Reds number 8 Harry Wilson was energetic on attack, executing a total of 19 carries. Jack Maddocks (Waratahs), who has impressed thus far in the tournament, made 17 attempts at the Western Force line while Wilson’s teammate Lukhan Salakaia-Loto and Tahs flanker Lachlan Swinton each made 16.

Maddocks’ 17 carries racked up a total of 87 metres for his team while teammate and winger James Ramm and Reds number 11 Filipo Daugunu both posted a total of 83 metres. Brynard Stander (Western Force) came in third with 72.

Ramm’s name popped up atop the ‘defenders beaten’ stat with 6 while Reds scrumhalf Tate McDermott and Will Harrison (Waratahs) each got past 4.

Oliver Callan (Western Force) did good work on the ground against the Waratahs, winning 3 turnovers. Michael Hooper (Waratahs) and Richard Hardwick showed commitment in this area too, each completing their games with a brace to their names.

In terms of the ‘clean breaks’ stat, James Ramm, once again, did enough to come out on top with a total of 3 and a whole host of players managing 2.

In Round 3, the Reds will look to return to winning ways against the Force and the Waratahs will square up to a vibrant Brumbies outfit.
