Warriors sign Taufete'e

Warriors have signed USA international Joe Taufete'e till the end of the season.

The USA star made his international debut against South Africa at the 2015 Rugby World Cup and has gone on to make nine appearances for the Eagles, scoring three tries.

Head Coach Carl Hogg said: "Joe is a hungry young forward with a lot of potential.

"He is a big, strong ball-carrier which will allow us to get on the front foot in matches so we're looking forward to working with him and helping him try and reach the top of his game.”

The 24-year-old front row will join up with his new teammates immediately.


Boland announce new heach coach for 2017

The Boland Rugby Union today announced the appointment of Randall Modiba as head coach of the Boland Cavaliers for the 2017 rugby season.


Modiba has been signed on a 2-year term (from 1 January 2017), following the resignation of former head coach Brent Janse van Rensburg in October 2016.

“We are proud to announce the appointment of Randall Modiba as head coach of the Boland Cavaliers, as this is a coach who has come through all of Boland Rugby’s structures”, said Boland Rugby Union president Ivan Pekeur.

“Modiba is a man who knows the union very well. Combine with his technical abilities, he is more than capable to succeed in this role.”

Modiba coached Boland’s u.19 teams in 2009 and 2014, with these teams being crowned Currie Cup u.19 champions on both occasions.

Sale Sharks sign Denny Solomona

Sale Sharks have announced the signing of Denny Solomona on a 3 year contract.

“We are delighted that Denny has signed for us. He is a great player with an eye for scoring tries and has the added bonus of having played Rugby Union in his time at School & College,” said Sale Sharks Director of Rugby Steve Diamond.

Denny moved to the UK in 2014 and signed for London Broncos and scored 10 tries in 21 games but the team were relegated. He joined Castleford Tigers and scored 42 tries in 2016 breaking Lesley Vainikolo’s Super League record set in 2004.

Standing 6ft 3ins and weighing 14st 13lbs, Denny is able to play wing/centre or full back.

Strettle out for 4 weeks

Clermont winger David Strettle has been ruled out for the remainder of 2016 due to a finger injury.

He will be sidelined for four weeks after sustaining injury to his index finger in Clermont’s 39-32 Champions Cup defeat to Ulster at the Kingspan Stadium on Saturday.
