Argentina leveled matters almost immediately with a penalty around the midpoint of the half. It was then the Wallabies turn to go down to 14 players as they picked up a yellow card, with a penalty on the half hour mark edging Argentina ahead 6-3. Argentina capitalized further on their numerical advantage as they raced in for the games first try with five minutes of the half to play to open up a ten point lead at 13-3. The Wallabies would have the final say of the half, with a penalty with the final play reducing the deficit to seven points.
