Eng take a 20-9 lead over Wales into halftime. Eng got off to the perfect start with an early try, with Wales getting on the board with a penalty shortly after. The sides then traded penalties as Eng led 10-6 midway through the half. Eng then crossed for their second try and added a late penalty to extend their advantage out to 20-6. However, Wales would keep within touching distance with a penalty with the final play of the half seeing them trail by 11 points at the break.
