Scotland opened the scoring with an early penalty, but Ireland hit back with the games first try to lead 7-3. Scotland made it a one point ball game with a second penalty, but missed a kick at goal to take the lead. Ireland added a late penalty but missed another as they take a four point advantage into the break.
