The toss has taken place and South Africa will kick off

Welcome to the last quarter-final of the 2019 Rugby World Cup where Japan take on South Africa. The teams last met in the 2015 Rugby World Cup where Japan took a shock victory with a score of 34-32. Japan have had a brilliant run so far in this World Cup and will be looking to use this confidence to take charge of the Springboks. The Springboks have also had a good run, losing only their first match against a might All Blacks side. This will also be Japan's first time making it out of the group stages of a World Cup and are the only team left in the World Cup to have a perfect record. The Springboks are seen as the stronger side though as they have made it through the group stages in every World Cup they have partaken in and they are also the team with the highest points tally of the World Cup group stages, with 185 points. They will be hoping to get their way to the final but will the underdogs give the Springboks another surprise?

My name is Wade Solomon and I will be keeping you updated for Ultimate Rugby!

Luke Thompson will become the first player to play 14 RWC matches for Japan, extending his record. Michael Leitch will play his 13th match and Shota Horie his 12th.
