@patrick your argument is invalid. O'Driscoll is possibly the best 13 ever. Davies has potential but he's no prodigy, his leadership isn't as good, or tackling, or handling. Davies was picked in the lions squad wrongly and it gave us a test match won by knocking the Aussies in physicality no sparkling back play by any means

Ireland with Bod as skipper won the grand slam in 2009 so there's that and he was part of the lions winning team it wasn't only one match that won that series it was all three. You must be new to the rugby scene because if you weren't you would know that the players especially the experienced ones will give praise where it is due and Davies himself has said he is no where near the level of O'Driscoll (the only ever player to win player of the DECADE) every major player in rugby history would say the very same about O'Driscoll he may be coming to the end of his career but as you seen tonight he's still as good if not better than when he started

Gatland chose Davies simply to complete the almost full welsh team! The welsh back line have had more experience and chemistry playing together than BOD has with the rest of the welsh team! BOD has more skill and talent, I doubt Davies will be able to play at that level at the age of 34

Patrick, you can't talk about a single player based on the teams accomplishments, i.e. JD is a good part of the Welsh winning formula but just a part. O'Driscolls performances have been consistent since 1999, thats 14 years at the top. JD has potential to be great, but come back in another 10 years and we'll see how argument stands up. BOD is the man. Outstanding professional and is still top class. Maybe not what he was 4 years ago in South Africa but still top class. John Davies is a great player but not as good or in my opinion will never reach BOD past or present. John Davies missed the tackle on Ashley copper in the 2nd lions test to bring it to the decider. Everyone forgets that. The lions would of won that 3rd test with BOD at 13 or JD. Patrick your points are so flawed and you are looking at the whole thing with blinkers on. Wales are a great team and have been for a long time now. Ireland are great in patches, consistency is key for wales. Remember Ireland were the only team to beat wales last year in 6N.

Presently JD is injured and not playing. And again JD missed that tackle in the 2nd test. BOD defence in Oz was great, attack was poor due to the fact he had a 13 playing 12 inside him in a back line that didn't do much. The key was Jamie Roberts to the final 3rd test. All will come to the fore in the 6N.
