‘Baie dankie, sien later’: French youngster gives Afrikaans interview in viral video

South African viewers were left smiling last week following one of the more entertaining post-match rugby interviews in some time, writes thesouthafrican.

Johan ‘JG’ Wasserman, 17, son of former Springbok tourist and flanker Johan, last Friday acted as translator for his France Under-18 captain Baptiste Britz.

The French youngsters had just beaten their SA Under-18 ‘A’ opponents 26-23 in the opening match of their Under-18 International Series in Paarl.

Taking his responsibility seriously, Wasserman listened to Springbok Gcobani Bobo, who conducted the interview in English for SuperSport, before translating into French for Britz’ sake – and then delivering his reply in Afrikaans!  Read more
