3 top performers from England vs South Africa

England ended a 10 year wait for a win against South Africa at Twickenham on Saturday afternoon, we picked 3 guys that stood out for us!

Joe Launchbury

The big second row was fantastic today, making 11 big carries, securing several turnovers and making countless tackles. He was incredible in the line out securing a vast majority of English lineout ball as well as getting up to steal some Springbok lineout ball. His Trojan efforts earned him the man of the match award which was no less than he deserved in the end.

Ben Youngs

Ben Youngs put in one of his best performance sin an England shirt in this game, firmly stamping his name on that number 9 shirt. His awareness and ability to identify space around the fringes set up tries for both Ford and Farrell in this game. He kicked well throughout putting a lot of pressure on the South African back 3 and he just looked menacing at all times with ball in hand. If it weren’t for Launchbury’s incredible display Youngs would most likely have earned the man of the match award.

Owen Farrell

Playing at 12 today Owen Farrell showed why he is one of the best centres in the world and why he must surely be a shoe in to start for the Lions in the Summer. He was the key link man between Ford and the pacey outside backs. He identified space very well sending regular kicks into the corner pinning the Springboks deep in their own territory. He was almost perfect from the tee recording 6/7 successful kicks including a few very difficult ones from both touchlines. Another fantastic performance from Farrell reminded everyone of how much he was missed during that injury spell.
