Alan Solomons addresses Rory Duncan rumours

Worcester Warriors Director of Rugby Alan Solomons has rubbished rumours linking head coach Rory Duncan with a return to his former side the Cheetahs.

Duncan's name has been mentioned as a potential candiate to replace Franco Smith who is expected to accept an offer from Italy that will see him takeover as the national head coach with Conor O'Shea becoming the side's Director of Rugby.

However, Solomons has insisted that there was “no substance” to the speculation and emphasised that Duncan was “absolutely committed” to Worcester Warriors along with the rest of his coaching staff.

Solomons dismissed any chance of Duncan moving to South Africa in the near future.

“There is no substance in that whatsoever, none at all,” said Solomons when questioned about the Duncan speculation.

“All the coaches here have worked hard and made positive contributions.

“There is nobody that hasn’t given absolutely everything to the Worcester cause. I would say for all our coaches, so Rory, Omar (Mouneimne, defence coach), Doaky (Neil Doak, attack coach), Mefin (Davies, forward coach) and all the other guys are absolutely committed to what they are doing.”
