Augustine Pulu explains why he ripped pads off goalpost

Counties Manukau halfback Augustine Pulu has explained his actions in ripping the pads off the goalpost during his side's 31-all draw with Bay of Plenty on Sunday.

With Counties hot on defence, the cheeky halfback removed the padding from the left upright, forcing the referee to bring play to a halt, thus stopping the Bay of Plenty's attack just metres short of the try line.

"It was in my way to be honest, I wasn't too sure about the ruling," Pulu said.

"I got two minutes break for my forward pack."
