B&I Lions Player Ratings v Queensland Reds
Another 50+ point win for the rourists as they despatch the Queensland Reds. The hosts asked plenty of questions in the opening 20-30 minutes but ultimately were unable to keep the pressure and tempo up for the full match. For Andy Farrell the scrum will continue to be a work on and while there are clear first choice options for the opening tests some positions could go either way. Here are our player ratings
- Andrew Porter - 5:
Porter did not have the desired affect on the game, specifically at scrum time. - Ronan Kelleher - 6:
Similar to Porter, he did not impact the game in a way you would hope but did put in a massive shift on defence with 16 tackles - Will Stuart - 4:
Heavily penalised at scrum time he will need to dominate more at scrum time to get a test start. - Maro Itoje - 9:
Sublime performance from the Lions captain, virtually the only target at line out time, two turnover wins and joint top tackler, it was a captains performance. - Ollie Chessum - 6:
Not his bussiest game, made few errors and did not capitalise on his opportunity. - Tom Curry - 6:
Quiet game from the England and Sale loosie. Outshone by Jac Morgan on the day and may miss a place in the test match squad following the Morgan and vd Flier performances - Jac Morgan - 9:
The only Welshman left in the playing group and he put in a shift to be remembered by. From turnover's to tackles to momentum swinging moments he was the official MOTM. - Jack Conan - 8:
Big performance from the Lions 8. You feel this 8, 9, 10 combo will start the first test. - Jamison Gibson-Park - 7:
First game on tour and made some good impact. - Finn Russell - 8:
The Lions played with serious width in the first half and that suits Russell well. He showed great pass selection and keep the team going forward. - Duhan vd Merwe - 6:
Clearly targeted with kicks and was exposed. Managed to get out of trouble on one occasion thanks to his size. Finished well for his try - Bundee Aki - 6:
Strange one, seemed to play outside his usual strength's which was likely the plan but settled in well when he went back to his strength's - Huw Jones - 7:
Your not getting a momentum stopper on defence like Ringrose but you do get a blockbuster attacker. He was good on defence and usual self on attack. - Tommy Freeman - 7:
A quiet start but carried himself into the game and took his chances. - Elliot Daly - 8:
Farrell and co will be sweating on his fitness after picking up an injury. The ultimate swiss army knife in the backs who fills the game with positive contributions
