Canada Women announce squad for WXV

August 27, 2026 – Head Coach of Canada's Women's Rugby Team, Kevin Rouet, has selected 36 players for Canada's first three fixtures of the 2026 WXV Global Series this September in Europe where Canada is set to face Scotland, England and France.  
 
"It was important for us to assemble our strongest team," said Rouet. "Because of our 'One Squad' philosophy, we had some players not available during PAC4 earlier this year because they were playing with the sevens team in Hong Kong. This September and October we have all our players available. It will be good to have everyone in the same place for the next two months and we will still need to find a balance between staying competitive while also giving players the opportunity to develop and showcase themselves. Overall, everyone is just very happy to get back together again."  
 
Following their three matches in Europe, Canada will return home to play in Toronto and Ottawa this October marking the first time the team will play on home soil since placing second in the 2025 Rugby World Cup. The Rugby Rematch Tour, presented by Canadian Tire, will feature Canada, currently third in the world, facing off against world champion England on October 16 at BMO Field and October 23 and TD Place. Sophie de Goede will captain the squad over the next five matches supported by vice-captains Alexandra Tessier, Olivia Apps and Justine Pelletier.  
 
Two-time Olympic medalist and HSBC SVNS Series star, Charity Williams, has been selected to the squad and will look to make her debut in a 15s jersey for Canada after a long and decorated career with Canada's Women's Sevens Team. Savannah Bauder, who made her debut for Canada on the SVNS series in 2024, will also look to make her international debut in the 15s game.  
 
Having experience with a variety of Canada's age-grade programs, Emily Clark, Sophie McDonald and Faith Tilley have been selected for their first tours with Canada's senior national team and will look to earn their first cap.
 
Canada will travel to Ireland for a week-long camp ahead of their first WXV match against Scotland.  Funding assistance to make this camp possible was received from the Canadian Rugby Foundation  via the Monty Heald Senior Women’s Fund. Established in 2016, the Monty Heald Fund was created to fill the need for increased financial support of the Canada's Women's Rugby Team.  As global funding for the women’s game has increased, the Monty Heald Fund management committee has continued to be a supporter of the plans Canada's Senior Women's Team through specific and targeted grant applications. Since its founding, the Fund has contributed more than $700,000 towards the senior women's program.
