Cipriani Suffers Knee Ligament Tear

Cipriani Suffers Knee Ligament Tear

Wasps fly-half Danny Cipriani has been ruled out of action for up to 12 weeks after suffering a knee ligament tear against Harlequins on Sunday.

The 14-times capped England international has enjoyed a fine start to the season with the Coventry-based.

Director of Rugby, Dai Young, was initially unsure about the extent of the damage, but it has now been confirmed that Cipriani tore a medial ligament.

The injury sidelines the influential playmaker until the end of November at the earliest - and possibly not until the run-up to Christmas.

Cipriani has been instrumental in guiding Wasps to consecutive victories over Sale and Worcester to open their Premiership Rugby season.

However, there is some positive news on the injury front as Jimmy Gopperth is back in full training after recovering from a minor ankle knock.

A delicately timed inside ball from Cipriani to Marcus Watson helped open the space to create Wasps' opening try on Sunday.
