Clermont confirm four new signings including two Springboks

Clermont have confirmed a further four signings ahead of the cut off date for Rugby World Cup cover signings ahead of the TOP14 season.


The 2018/19 Top 14 finalists have added Springboks JJ Engelbrecht and Rudy Paige to their squad as well as Samoan International Faifili Levave and former Melbourne Rebels and Bath prop Max Lahiff.

The likes of Etienne Falgoux, Rabah Slimani, Sebastien Vahaamahina, Arthur Iturria, Camille Lopez, Wesley Fofana, Damian Penaud, Greig Laidlaw, Peceli Yato, Setariki Tuicuvu, Apisai Naqalevu and Tim Nanaï Williams are all likely to miss the start of the Top 14 while representing their country in Japan.

Scrumhalf Rudy Paige joins Clermont having been released by the Cheetahs having played 13 games for the Springboks and over 50 games for the Bulls. He comes in to cover for Greig Laidlaw and the injured Kevin Viallard while his former teammate JJ Engelbrecht (12 test caps) joins from the Stormers to cover for Wesley Fofana and Damian Penaud. The club is also set to bring in one other player to cover for Penaud.

With over 100 Premiership appearances, Max Lahiff joins to cover for Etienne Falgoux while Faifili Levave comes in to cover for the likes of Arthur Iturria and Peceli Yato.
