Clermont sign George Moala on a three-year deal

After signing Tim Nanai-Williams, ASM Clermont Auvergne have confirmed the signing of Auckland Blues center George Moala for the next three seasons until June 2021.

27-year-old Moala represented Tonga in the IRB Junior World Championship before getting selected in the Blues 2012 squad where he has made multiple appearances.

ASM Clermont Auvergne sports director Franck Azéma commented on the news: "This versatile player has a profile that we did not have in our squad. He will bring a lot of density to the middle of the field. He is an excellent defender and an attacker who can make the difference both on his supports and on his physique.

"The Blues are one of the most offensive Super Rugby teams, like us, they are focused on the movement game and we are certain that this will allow George to find in Clermont the whole environment to flourish and help us achieve our goals."

The block-busting midfield/wing, who made his All Blacks debut in 2015, will be the most capped back for the Blues starting the 2018 season.
