Crusaders congratulate Ian Foster and confirm Robertson will stay on

The Crusaders Super Rugby club has congratulated Ian Foster on his appointment to the All Blacks Head Coach role, following New Zealand Rugby’s announcement today.

Crusaders CEO Colin Mansbridge confirmed that Robertson would continue as the side's head coach, with many speculating that he could join the All Blacks' as an assistant coach.

Scott Robertson is contracted as Head Coach of the Crusaders through the 2020 and 2021 seasons.

Mansbridge said: “Firstly, I’d like to congratulate Ian Foster on his appointment as All Blacks Head Coach, following what has been a competitive and highly-srutinised recruitment process.

“It goes without saying that we love Razor and we are certainly disappointed for him. He has a superb coaching record with the Crusaders and, off the field, he is an engaging and inspiring leader who has a unique ability to connect with his players, the wider organisation and the community.

“While this announcement means he will remain in the Head Coach position with the Crusaders, it is bittersweet for us in that we would have loved to see him get the All Blacks role. We look forward to our 2020 season with Razor, and wish Ian and the All Blacks all the best for the international campaign,” Mr Mansbridge said.
