Wales international, Dewi Lake, will join Gloucester Rugby from the Ospreys ahead of the 2026/27 season, joining teammate Jac Morgan in making the move to Kingsholm.
An abrasive hooker, born in Ogmore Vale, Lake has made over 70 appearances for his region across the United Rugby Championship (URC), Challenge Cup and Champions Cup.
Capped at Wales U20 level for the first time in 2018, Lake was selected to captain the side at the 2019 World Rugby U20 Championship, leading Wales to a memorable 8-7 victory over New Zealand at the tournament.
First called up to the senior squad in 2020, Lake had to wait until the 2022 Six Nations for his Wales debut against Ireland. Since his debut, Lake has won 26 caps for his nation, including a historic win over the Springboks in South Africa and featuring in the 2023 Rugby World Cup, where he co-captained the squad with Jac Morgan.
Director of Rugby, George Skivington, commented:
“Dewi is the epitome of a modern-day hooker, dominant at set piece and industrious around the park.
“He’s a gritty and abrasive player, and I know that’s what fans like to see in a Gloucester player. I think they’ll take to Dewi really quickly.
“With Dewi and Jac coming in, we’ve significantly bolstered our pack, adding to the talent that’s already here, and we’re shaping up nicely for the start of the 2026/27 season.”
Lake added:
“I had a really good chat with the Club about their ambitions and how I could play a part in that, and it got me really excited for the challenge ahead.
“I’ve always admired Gloucester for the way they play, I feel like it’s suited to my strengths and the way I like to play the game.
“The Gallagher PREM is probably the most competitive league in the world, and I feel like I'm at a good stage in my career to take the opportunity with both hands.”
