Du Plessis brothers & Alberts to leave Sharks
The Sharks have confirmed that despite their best efforts, three of their top players will leave at the end of the season in Bismarck and Jannie du Pleases along with Willem Alberts.

The Du Plessis brothers are expected to link up with former South Africa boss Jake White at Montpellier, while Alberts is being linked with Top 14 finalists Stade Français.

It brings down the curtain on three long careers with the Sharks, with Bismarck having been with the club for a decade with Jannie joining in 2008 and Alberts in 2010.

Their departures mean that the Sharks, who have only won six games all year, will have a very different feel next season as they look to re-build following a dismal Super Rugby campaign.

“These three gents have played an instrumental and invaluable role at The Sharks over the years,” said Sharks CEO and the trio’s former team-mate, John Smit.

"It is naturally disappointing to lose these calibre of players that have given so much to Sharks rugby. As in many senior statesmen’s careers they felt the time was right to experience something different abroad.

“On behalf of The Sharks I take this opportunity to thank them for their dedication, commitment and outstanding contribution to the franchise. We wish them and their families the very best for this new chapter they are embarking on.”
