Du Preez twins make early Sharks exit

The Sharks have confirmed that loose forward duo Jean-Luc and Dan du Preez will leave the Durban-based franchise with immediate effect and join their older brother Robert du Preez at the Sale Sharks on permanent deals.

The twins were set to move to the Manchester-based on a short-term deal and return to for the 2020 Super Rugby season. However, the Sharks confirmed that the pair will not be returning next year.

This follows the news that the twins’ father, Robert du Preez snr, will not be in charge of the team next year.

"Jean-Luc and Daniel were absolute stars in the black-and-white jersey and always showed great professionalism and commitment in every match that they played" Sharks CEO Gary Teichmann said.

"It is important to state that the amicable parting of ways with Robert had absolutely no bearing on this move, which was negotiated before a decision on Robert’s future was taken."

"We are sad to lose players of their calibre, but they go with our blessings.  They will be sorely missed."
