Frederic Michalak returns to Lyon in an advisory role

77-Test French international Frédéric Michalak has been appointed in an advisory role at Lyon after retiring at the end of last season.

The 35-year-old called time on his playing career having joined Lyon from Top 14 rivals Toulon in 2016.

On his appointment, Michalak commented: “I am delighted to be able to start my second ‘life’ at Lyon and to be able to bring my expertise and experience to the club. To work!”

Michalak will assist Lyon president Yann Roubert and head coach Pierre Mignoni with a variety of tasks, including recruitment, training and public relations.

Roubert: “It is a pleasure to continue working with Frédéric, who still has a lot to bring to Lyon and to rugby as a whole, even if he is no longer on the pitch.”

Lyon open their Champions Cup schedule with a home game against Cardiff Blues on October 14. They are also paired with Glasgow Warriors and Saracens in Pool 3.
