Alan Gaffney joins Saints backroom staff

Northampton Saints have confirmed Alan Gaffney as the Club’s technical coaching consultant until the end of the 2017/18 season.

The 70-year-old is one of Australia’s most experienced coaches who will bring over two decades of professional coaching experience to Franklin’s Gardens. Gaffney will already be a household name to supporters of Irish rugby after spells with the Munster, Leinster, and Ireland squads between 2000 and 2011. Full story

Evans given four-week suspension

 

Scarlets winger Steffan Evans faced a Disciplinary Hearing on Thursday via a video conference and has been banned for four weeks. 

As a result, the player has been banned for a period of four weeks. He is free to play from midnight on Sunday, January 21. Full story

Sexton fit for Connacht clash

According to the Irish Times Leinster flyhalf Johnny Sexton has been cleared to face Connacht on New Years day having missed Leinster's clash with Munster on Boxing Day with a head injury.

Sexton suffered the head knock against Exeter earlier this month when he collided with Matt Kvesic. The 32-year-old has passed multiple tests players go through for suspected concussion and is expected to be available for selection. Full injury report
