Friday Night's PRO12 Stars

Friday Night's PRO12 Stars

We kicked off the rugby filled weekend ahead tonight with 4 games in the PRO12 where we saw plenty of entertainment & talent on show. Edinburgh, Dragons, Munster & Cardiff all came away with wins tonight in 4 exciting clashes, now we take a look at the players who stood out tonight in their side's wins.

Willis Halaholo

A debutant for the former Hurricanes centre and what a debut it proved to be. The Auckland man was exceptional throughout, both in attack and defence. Often required by Shingler at first receiver, Halaholo showed an immensely powerful running game, which was evidenced by a superb solo try in the second half. Entering the international break, Halaholo will be a key player in this Blues setup.

Dave Kilcoyne

Dave Kilcoyne shone for Munster in their 33-0 thrashing of Ospreys as the prop led from the front. Kilcoyne displayed his immense strength on the ball throughout the fixture, with the versatile front rower powering over from short range on two occasions for the try, earning MOTM in the process. The Munsterman certainly made a huge statement for why he should be included in the Ireland setup.

Sean Kennedy

The Scrum-half was the main orchestrator for Edinburgh's attack tonight. He marshalled the pack well and looked lively all night. He displayed a nice passing game and worked well with Tovey in leading the Edinburgh back line.

Sarel Pretorius

The experienced scrum-half showed that he deserved his place in the starting fifteen this week. The South African was a shining light behind his powerful forwards as he threatened the Connacht defensive line himself and got his back-line moving at pace. The nine played a part in both Newport tries on the night. He pounced on an overthrow from Shane Delahunt before shipping the ball wide to Hewitt who went over for the first five pointer. He started the second from the base of a scrum and it was Hewitt again who went over the whitewash. Surely the former Free State Cheetah can’t be overlooked next week for a starting position.
